Aims:
To provide basic principles, methods and techniques for designing and developing business applications over electronic and information networks.

Learning Teaching & Assessment Strategy:
The contact time consists of lectures, and laboratory study. The remainder is given over to private study comprising directed reading, unsupervised laboratory exercises, and coursework assignments Assessment includes laboratory based exercises, design and development of a web-based system, and individual reports to assess the technical and non-technical content of the module. Supplementary assessment requires the repair of deficiencies in the original submission.

Outline Syllabus:
Electronic business strategy and business models. Creating and managing content to offer cyber services. Payment and transaction systems. Network security and cryptography. Electronic business relationships and marketing. The technologies used to design, implement, test, develop and then manage electronic business systems. Aligning the information strategy to the business. Business needs and information system trends. Static (stored) and dynamic (live) information, multiservice and multimedia. Case studies illustrating the issues in different styles of organisation.
