Aims:
To enable the student to gain experience of completing a piece of research work (literature review and if suitable, simulation) to professional standards using some of the knowledge gained during the first semester.

Learning Teaching & Assessment Strategy:
Individual project work with ongoing feedback from project supervisor. A research report (or review paper) containing project specifications, a literature review and planned experimental approach has to be submitted. Students taking supplementary assessment will be required to repair deficiencies in the original submission.

Outline Syllabus:
A research report will be written by the student and will be submitted by the end of the semester. A literature review and basic simulation work (if suitable for the project), is expected in the report. This will be considered as pre-requisite for the continuation of the project work in Research Project Part 2.
