Aims:
(1) An understanding of the foundations of the principles of software development. (2) To achieve advanced level skills in terms of software development paradigms.

Learning Teaching & Assessment Strategy:
The various forces to be resolved and balanced in software design, together with techniques and established solution strategies, are exposed, in general and by examples, in lectures and developed critically by students, both individually and through discussion in tutorials.
The assessment is to demonstrate comprehension and application to typical problems.
Supplementary assessment: repair deficiencies in original submission.
