Aims:
To provide an understanding of concepts and principles of computer system administrative tools and set-ups. To develop the skills to be able to set up computers, such as installing and configuring Operating Systems and other networks.

Learning Teaching & Assessment Strategy:
This module is based around laboratory practical sessions during which topics are self-explored. The time is made up of preparation of project work, private study and directed reading. This module is 100% practical, and is used to develop/enhance skills and familiarity with computer system technologies through the assessed project work. The student required to take supplementary assessment are required to repair the deficiency in the original assessment.

Network analysis. The development of operating system dependency. The basics of clients and servers. OS installation. Configuration management. Principles of security. Firewalls and TCP/IP Security. The development of the Local Area Network from scratch.
