Aims:
To gain an in-depth understanding of a highly specialised area within the design principles, creation methodologies, technical implementation or creative challenges used in computer game or animation development through a research project with a practical demonstration.

Learning Teaching & Assessment Strategy:
The module is taught as part of a wider large project that uses synoptic assessment with the Individual Project module. As such, general introductory lectures and seminars covering a range of potential research subjects and study skills will be given in conjunction with the Individual Project. Tutorials will allow students to produce a highly individualised body of coursework, which will be assessed in the form of documentation, presentations and demonstrations of practical and theoretical findings, which support and describe the development of elements of the wider project. Assessments will examine the theoretical background research of a technical specialism, effectively presenting the purpose and context of the Individual Project. The research project topic will be negotiated on an individual basis. Supplementary assessment is to repair deficiencies in the original submission.
