On successful completion of this module you will be able to...

1.1 Describe a broad range concepts used to construct working models of simple components; and have the practical skills to use, manual and/ or computer-aided design methods to create visual representations
1.2 Describe/apply standard drawing conventions and the use of drawing as a medium of communication.
1.3 Describe applications of various forms of modelling, e.g. rapid prototyping

On successful completion of this module you will be able to...

construct scale models of simple components, or structural elements.

On successful completion of this module you will be able to...

present data using CAD applications

  Classroom test   100%

Graded exercises under examination conditions (4hrs in total)
  Classroom test   100%

A Supplementary graded exercise under examination conditions (3hrs).

Outline Syllabus:
Use of appropriate methods for understanding the medium. Fundamental skills in modelling systems, including, e.g. CAD, scale models and 3-D drawings. Production of realistic 3-D sketches/models, including (where appropriate) perspective, isometric projection, rendering, plans and sections.. Transformation from virtual to real model.
