Aims:
To enable students to carry out a critical self-reflection and analysis of the period or periods of industrial placement completed earlier through a critical review of personal experiences of work and a detailed assessment of the practices encountered during the placement(s) in terms of the academic work covered in modules in stages 1, 2, and 3.

Learning Teaching & Assessment Strategy:
Principles explored in individual seminars with visiting tutors and the personal tutor. Practical, cognitive and personal skills developed during the placement. Oral feedback is given during the placement visit. The formal assessment will examine the wider learning outcomes expressed in the descriptor.

Outline Syllabus:
The preparation in consultation with visiting tutors and personal tutor of a report on placement experiences, covering :1.self reflection and analysis of personal learning objectives and progress in achieving objectives2.self reflection and analysis of the development of key personal skills3.analysis and interpretation of the placement companies in the context of the academic disciplines taught during the course4.a review of the placement companies in terms of their products, histories and achievements5.a realistic self-assessment of performance on placement.6.self reflection and analysis of training and experience in applications of engineering and technology7.self reflection and analysis of training and experience in engineering as a dimension of business. Integrative report to include placement report(s) as appendices.
