o To advance the students` understanding of the concept of steel and composite design and their applications in engineering.
O To enable students` to design and analyse complex steel and composite structures and associated processing techniques.

Learning Teaching & Assessment Strategy:
Concepts, principles & theories explored in formal lectures, which are then practised in tutorials.

Directed study:
This will include work required for the design project.

Private study
Topics of directed independent include a critical review of Eurocode guidance, specialist technical reports published by Steel Constructional Institute and relevant journal papers (e.g. Journal of Constructional Steel Research, Engineering Structures, The Structural Engineer, and ICE Proceedings).
